What are conversion services?
Conversion Services are services that convert Type A Information to Type B Information. In practice, it allows users to interact more easily with systems. The best example is speech recognition (ASR - Automatic Speech Recognition), which enables users to operate information systems by voice. Another important conversion service is speech synthesis (TTS - Text to Speech), for example, the conversion of an SMS message into spoken text when someone sends an SMS to a fixed device, and also to listen to email.
Why conversion services?
Conversion Services allows users to access information that they would not have been able to access if the conversion service was not available; or improves the accessibility of the information. Information that is stored in a database can be called-in through speech recognition, and be made available via speech synthesis. In practice, conversion services effectively ensure that users are less quickly transferred to a company employee or call centre, and make the service available 24/7. Conversion Services can therefore save costs and increase income.
