Aculab's SIGTRAN adds value to Comsys' SpeechFrame® Aculab integrates new signalling product for SS7 over IP networks 11th February, Milton Keynes, UK - Aculab, a leading provider of enabling technology for the communications market, today announced the successful integration of its new SIGTRAN product for the value added services (VAS) carrier market with SpeechFrame® from Comsys. Aculab's SS7 SIGTRAN M3UA product is designed to increase the market reach for VAS platform developers with extended protocol interoperability and IP-based signalling transport of SS7 messages. With the evolution of SS7 networks, VAS developers are continually challenged to deliver solutions for a variety of network configurations using both traditional TDM and emerging IMS and SIP technologies. This is certainly true for Comsys whose customer, a major operator throughout Europe, was looking for ways to increase their VAS penetration. "Our client's aim is to increase customer satisfaction by giving more flexibility and capabilities through the use of new technology," commented Eildert van Dijken, Senior Account Manager for Comsys. "Because migration toward an all-IP world is going to happen soon, the platform we provide has to be able to present both TDM and IMS-based connections. Essentially, the premium, shared cost and Freephone services have to function without interruption as they migrate towards VoIP." Comsys are providing their European operator client with a platform based on its state of the art SpeechFrame® product. The solution incorporates a complete and intuitive portal for VAS development and editing, which will enable the operator's hosted services business customers to easily add menu options or change diversion settings. SpeechFrame® delivers hundreds of scalable VAS applications such as messaging; prepaid calling; roaming; and CRBT. Comsys' platform makes use of the latest hardware and signalling technology provided by Aculab. "Aculab's CompactPCI Prosody X boards offer outstanding performance in a small form factor, while the combination of TDM and SIP capabilities on the same board ensures the possibility of seamless service migration in the near future," added van Dijken. "Aculab's implementation of SIGTRAN M3UA has been developed to enable both peer-to-peer connectivity and gateway operations, which is a must-have. M3UA peer-to-peer support means we have been able to fully comply with our carrier customer's requirements. Leading edge enabling technology from Aculab has certainly helped us in winning this new project," he continued. Commenting on the SIGTRAN development, Ian Colville, Product Manager at Aculab said, "Developers must be able to interoperate with different network topologies. The driver for Aculab's SIGTRAN M3UA software was to provide our customers further options for pursuing service provider business with their existing call and non-call related SS7 applications." Aculab's SS7 signalling products use dual MTP3/M3UA and distributed ISUP/TCAP architectures to support essential redundancy, automatic failover, load sharing and signalling offload. The new SS7 SIGTRAN M3UA product from Aculab better positions its customers to take advantage of today's constantly changing service provider opportunities.
